RDT SATURDAY CLASSES IN THATCHAM

Read Dance & Theatre Schools' Saturday classes at the Frank Hutchings Community Hall, Thatcham, are a fantastic way for young people to develop their skills and their confidence at the same time. The school has developed an enviable reputation for producing disciplined, well-taught young performers, and we are delighted to have been invited to be the choir in the professional production of 'Joseph' when it stopped off in Reading on its UK tour.

Mini Theatre School>>

9.30 - 10.30am every Saturday during term time at the Frank Hutchings Community Hall, Thatcham
Ages 5 - 7 years

Students at our Mini Theatre School in Thatcham work with two of our experienced and dedicated teachers each week, developing their foundation skills in dance, drama and singing. The class is themed around different musicals, with students encouraged to use their own imaginations and creativity as well as learning basic technique in all three disciplines. An
iideal way to begin learning about the Performing Arts!

Saturday Theatre School>>

10.30am - 1.30pm every Saturday during term time at the Frank Hutchings Community Hall, Thatcham
Ages 8 - 18 years

Our Saturday Theatre School students are split into age group classes during their day with us, and benefit from expert tuition from our resident teachers in Singing (Jamie Read CMT EVT), Dance (Jackie Cullen AIDTA) and Drama (Julie Loison MA Theatre Dramaturgy).  Classes will develop the confidence and technique of the students, exploring their creativity and
giving them greater knowledge of the Performing Arts

The Performance Academy >>

2.00pm - 4pm every Saturday during term time at the Frank Hutchings Community Hall, Thatcham
Ages 8 - 18 years

The Performance Academy is designed to further develop students' on-stage skills, by combining the three disciplines of Musical Theatre (working towards the Trinity Guildhall Musical Theatre exams) and rehearsing for regular performance opportunities.  Students will be focussing on stage craft and performance skills, as well as benefiting from workshops from
visiting guest teachers.  Recent workshops have included Circus Skills, Stage Combat and Horror Movie Make Up.

Trinity Guildhall Solo Acting Grades>>

11.40am-12.30pm and 2pm-4pm every Saturday during term time at the Frank Hutchings Community Hall, Thatcham
Ages 6 - 18 years

As an addition to their training at Mini Theatre School, Saturday Theatre School and/or The Performance Academy, students are able to have one-to-one private tuition with one of our resident acting/voice teachers to help them learn, create, and perform several acting pieces, which are then performed in front of an examiner from Trinity Guildhall. The exams are nationally accredited and at Advanced level (grades 6 - 8) even give older students UCAS points.  The classes enhance the students' abilities within acting, bring out confidence in their solo performances and give them a positive goal to work towards.

Arts Award Class>>

4.15 - 5.00pm every Saturday during term time at the Frank Hutchings Community Hall, Thatcham
Ages 11 - 18 years

The Arts Award is a nationally recognised qualification in the Arts which can be taken at Bronze, Silver or Gold level. We are lucky enough to have two trained Arts Award advisors on our staff, and students will be mentored by one of these teachers as they learn about being an audience member, participating in the arts, learning new skills and researching their
favourite artists.  The award encourages leadership within the arts and creative thinking for the young people taking part, and it also gives them experience of many different art forms.
