One thing that we believe passionately at Read Dance & Theatre is that performing arts should be open and accessible to everyone. That's why we offer our services to run workshops at schools, clubs, community events and organisations in any aspect of dance, singing or acting that is of interest.
Our teachers are not just experienced in mainstream commercial settings - we also have a wealth of experience in working with students in LEA settings and also with special educational needs, and our Director of Dance is a qualified community dance workshop leader.

Our experience in leading community workshops and schools projects led to the Partners of RDT, Helen & Jamie Read, being given special Civic Partnership Awards in 2009 by the Mayor of Thatcham, and recent projects have included:
Thatcham Festival of Arts & Leisure>>
Students from our Mini Theatre School, Saturday Theatre School, Trinity Guildhall Solo Acting grades and our Street Dance Classes in Thatcham all took part in the annual festival again this year - our 5th performance at this event. This year, one of our Arts Award students also co-ordinated and ran her own project at the Festival as a part of her Gold Award.
Christmas Lights>>
Partner at RDT, Jamie Read, is now part of the Town Council committee for the annual switching on of the Christmas Lights in Thatcham's town centre, and as always our students will be on stage at the event as part of the celebrations in 2011.
Reading's Glee Extravaganza>>
After 3 years working alongside Reading Borough Council delivering dance classes in the lead up to the Olympics, RDT were delighted to co-ordinate and run this project which took us into over 30 primary schools across the region. We then brought all 600+ students together for a fantastic performance at Reading Town Hall!
